and so i was walking the streets of jakarta with my long-time-no-see-friend, when mike suddenly asked me: "hey, do you still blog?"

...and so here i am.

life's been the same...more or less...minus the skymobile and a few inches of hair...where should i begin??

ok, her name is victoria, vicky to my friends...she's the laces on my shoes, the ice cream on my cone, and the bolster in my sleep. =) 16 months and going...

the skymobile was sold in march 2009...on the 12th. she was a good girl, but with her high maintenance regime, it was only a matter of time before we parted ways.

i always suspected that vicky casted an evil eye on her from the very beginning...but alas, you win some and you lose some...and plus, the selling price wasn't too shabby either. haha.

it feels good to write again...albeit about nothing that's vaguely interesting. talk to you again...soon. cheers. =)

i received an email the other day:

hi Mr Sky,

I happened to chance upon your blog and it appears that you love cats. Your cat is lucky to have an owner like you. You may find I'm weird to be sending you this mail but I just thought there's no harm asking. I mean the worst outcome would be for you to totally ignore me or reply to tell me how crazy I am right.

Anyway, I would like to check if you would be interested in keeping another cat? I picked up a stray kitten on the streets last week and the poor thing was badly hurt. She is about 8 weeks old and all black...I took her to see a vet and she is currently staying at my place recovering very well. I would love to keep her, but I am living a HDB flat and my parents do not want a pet. So I am looking for a new owner for her.

Well, let me just tell you more about Miss Blackie. She had a large open wound on her right front leg and the right hind leg was fractured when I found her. But she was still very feisty despite that, and was meowing loudly non-stop when the vet examined her initially. She stayed at the clinic for 5 days before I brought her back. Her legs are still heavily bandaged and she cannot move around much yet, but she is already smart enough to use the litter tray. The vet said she is the "best cat in the world" cos she was such a good patient. Her chances of recovery is very high, but there is still a slim chance that her front leg may not be as strong as the left, and that her right hind leg may be a little shorter than the left. But all in all, she is lovely and beautiful. I would be happy to pay for her treatment and for the necessary vacc plus neutering expenses as long as she gets a good home.

Thank you for reading this, I would appreciate it if you would be able to let me know if you would be interested in giving Miss Blackie a home. Of course I would totally understand if gin gin is all you need too. And I assure you I am not some crazy person. I hope to hear from you soon.

jason's birthday and botak jones

remembering my good friends' birthdays has always been a certain trait of mine.

actually it doesn't take much effort...be it a simple phone call to remind him / her that they're one year older...or a grand 10-course chinese dinner...i never forget a good friend's birthday.

so...on the 26th of march, jason was born 32 years ago.

i called up the usual gang for the celebrations...

goon...he is actually a very well-known food critic...he even has his own blog (oooo)...haha.

and angsty jo...who's quite angsty.

jason wasn't around for pictures cuz he was away in the gold coast (australia)...but we all knew that he was with us in spirit...and vice versa, he knew that we were with him in the gold coast in spirit too.

so anyway, for the joyous and special occasion, we ended up at the toa payoh botak jones...

the master food critic at work...

he had the 200 grams worth of lamb chop...which was surprisingly huge.

i have a sneaky suspicion that after goon wrote this entry on botak jones last year, mr. jones actually sent out an internal memo to all his staff with goon's picture on it...telling them to give him extra portions the next time they saw him in the queue.

i mean, just look at the size of mary's lamb...

$11.50 was a good deal indeed.

and then, on the side of the table...we have angsty jo's order.

before we reached the toa payoh, while we were in my car, he was spouting lyrical about how karma made the world revolve and all...meaning, he felt that i deserved the bus lane violation fine that i'm (hopefully not) going to get.

which is why he got his cajun chicken...and that angsty face.

it was a tad on the small side...and it looked a bit dry...but then again, you get what you pay for...which was only $7.50 for this piece of fowl. karma baby, karma. =D

now, onto literally the biggest order of the night...my ribeye steak.

introducing you to 400 grams of pure meat...pure beef...and pure stpuidity, now that i look back...

the guy at the counter even tried to hint (warn) me of the size..."sir, would you like to have it cut in half? that way, it can cook better."

but no, i was damn hungry...and insisted on the 400 in one slab.

now normally, i'd order my steak rare, cuz for some unknown reason, people here tend to overcook the steaks...ok ok...not really people, but jack's place. however, having been forewarned by the guy at the counter on the enormity of my meal, i changed my mind and said "medium rare" for the $27.50 piece of meat.

the steak was very nicely prepared. brownish on the outside, and pinkish on the in...just the way i like it...so other than the odd tendons that stretched my jaws to no limit, i had a good time gobbling up daisy.

although i can't say the same about my side dishes...

not that they weren't good or anything (i liked the fries quite a bit)...it's just that i had no more space left. it's at times like this when i wished that i had 4 stomachs like the cow i ate. hmmm.

happy birthday jason...thanks for making me 0.4kg heavier. haha.

*moby walks to the office door and sees: "no unauthorised entry"*
moby: wah lau eh. *knocks on door*
office staff: yes?
moby: would you be able to help me see if there's any stock for this?
office staff: oh ok. *goes behind store room*

office staff: don't have.
moby: sigh. ok...thanks.
*goes and grabs two big cartons of vitasoy instead, and ends up at the same sales counter*

counter boy: so how? did you find someone to help you?
moby: very difficult. you all work in the same company, but i, the paying customer, have to go around looking for you all, and try to figure out what's going on...
counter boy: ...

we all need to (and have a choice to) take responsibility sometimes, cuz a little effort can go a long way. especially for the continuous support and loyalty of customers...and the additional 10 minutes of my time.

i think i'll be going to holland v cold storage next time...

(p.s. i wonder if things would have been different if i had red hair...hmmm.)

ever since BOTH the empress road hawker centre AND the adam road food centre closed for renovation earlier this month, i have had to either:

3. go without food completely

this not-so-healthy regime took a turn for the better when i stopped by ntuc today to do some grocery shopping. i decided to cook myself a nice hot meal for once.

recently i've been pretty cool and calm about things...

until i read a comment on an article in my good friend goon's blog...

he was just nicely going about his business, doing his own thing, writing posts about food experiences he's had...when suddenly, one of the owners of a restaurant he reviewed decided to retaliate.

on the 6th hit when she googled "sunset tavern singapore" (yes, you have to type in "singapore" also cuz it's such an unoriginal name for a restaurant), she came across his entry on the not-so-pleasant experience that he had.

anyway, for those of you who were too lazy to click on the link above, here's the comment that was left by the owner of "sunset tavern":

i have five things to say:

1. she (lydia, the owner) addressed the wrong issue. the point was NOT whether the photos were taken during chinese new year. even if it were taken during cny, what does it matter??!?!?!?!??! your food and service weren't up to standard!

2. despite her "I’LL LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR VISITING SUNSET TAVERN." (which is gramatically wrong btw...it should be "i'D like to..."...but then again, the whole thing was written in poor english, so it doesn't really matter...), i think that it was a jumbled up piece of PR bullshit that was bound to blow up in her face.

3. no matching receipts, no matching manager's uniform, no matching decor means that goon wasn't there lah...so basically he just decided to randomly pick a low-end restaurant like sunset tavern to slam and defame lah. and like i said before, does it matter when the fucked-up-sunset-tavern-experience was?

4. it's "we do apologise", and not "we do apologies". unless of course, if you mean with 10 years of experience and encountERs (not "encounteds"), you have had to make many apologies...then i do apologise.

5. "SERIOUS ACTION"? hahahaha. are you serious? 'nuff said. well, not really...i have a lot more to say...are you sure you're really the owner??? you sound like you're just a defensive employee trying to keep her job!

so...

how does your wallet feel after being $188.32 lighter ($88 per pax for new year good luck...plus 7% gst for govt)? did the food taste that much better, or did you really really enjoy that piece of poulet cordon bleu (aka chicken chop) that everyone else was having in the same restaurant?

and did you at least get a good night's kiss on your forehead for all that trouble? i certainly hope so...

now, if you're sitting on the other side of the table, how does it feel to be the recipient of that over-priced bouquet which, strangely enough, looks exactly the same as your neighbouring colleague's arrangement? did the petals start falling off shortly after work cuz they were imported from malaysia 3 weeks ago?

and did you finally remember to sign up for that gym membership to work off that chicken chop you ate just now? i certainly hope so...

i guess you can tell by now that i'm not a big fan of this over-hyped, commercialized "day of love".

but in reality, i did fall for "the great v-day scam" this year...

i actually asked this girl to go out on the 14th...10 days before the date some more...only to be rejected...almost immediately i might add. haha. the irony of it all.

you can call me the scrooge of valentine's day for all i care, but i was with loved ones today...people i cared about, who cared for me too.

i've been wasting precious time this past week...i didn't get to train as much as i would have liked...in fact, not at all since my last jogging post.

i've been feeling a bit down as of late...partly cuz of work...partly cuz of the lack of sex...but mostly cuz this body of mine has been weighing me down. haha.

so i went and did some girly retail therapy shit with jay and jo today...at sportslink. introducing the instrument that will keep me from being down...and being weighed down...

adidas adizero breeze wide

i have no idea what adiprene and adizero mean...but jo, being the sucker for, i mean, being the expert on marketing terms, insisted that they were good...and that it was worth the extra $20 on top of the normal, plain adidas shoes. the sportslink salesman agreed emphatically.

(having said that...i'm very disappointed with the nike designs...with or without their marketing ploys. they're just plain awful!!! nike just doesn't do it for me anymore. sigh. sad.)

anyway...i tried out the adidas adizero / adiprene stuff today after work...to see if it works...hehe...here's my route.

breakfast craving

i've been having this craving every morning for the longest time...

but my inability to wake up early enough on weekdays meant that i could not satisfy this craving before i go to the office...(which also means that i normally miss the most important meal of the day..bad).

so, i made it a point to wake up before 12pm today...and i went downstairs to queen's hawker centre to buy some stuff...

introducing my breakfast craving...

you tiao (油条)

and his sidekick...

soya bean juice, dou jiang (豆浆), or dou nai (豆奶)

they work well together...hehe.

i remember the days back in taiwan, when we would wake up to the wonderful aromas of breakfast in the kitchen...we'd not only have you tiao and dou jiang, but also dan bing (蛋饼), luo bo gao (萝卜糕) and other taiwanese delicacies from time to time.

but my favourite was the simple you tiao / dou jiang combination...add a newspapaer, and you get the perfect saturday morning breakfast. =)

it was a sad sad day.

not only was it a monday...but it was also one when i realised that it was the end of yet another failed relationship...

we got together on the 11th of november, 2006. i had been checking her out for months before that already. and initially, she gave me much hope and optimism with her smooth looks and tanned body. she rang me every day in fact...and even had a good eye for photography at times...

but gradually, the faults and cracks started appearing, although i was to blame mostly...cuz i simply wasn't there to catch her when she fell. and...i'm ashamed to admit...i abused her when i felt the strain of the bullshit at work.

so for all it was worth, and for all the times that i left you sitting at the table alone...for all the times that i shouted at you...and for every single heart-wrenching time that i threw you down in despair...this is the the biggest honour that i could ever give to you and our relationship...

it's been a while since i've posted some photos...so here're some random pictures...along with some random stories...

1. i bought 20 new tetras for my fish tank about 3 weeks ago. last night, that number dwindled down to a measely 6 for no apparent reason...no carcasses, no nothing.

so last night, i did a little detective work...and i had the misfortune of witnessing the most unexpected behaviour from chua en lai (my pleco, aka sucker fish...go figure).

anyway, i saw him sucking one of the tetras right into his mouth while it was still sleeping! i bluff you not! i think i have a monster on my hands...

the culprit

chua en lai is getting too big for my tank...and plus, i don't think he's getting along with his tankmates very well...they're quite petrified actually...all 6 inches of him. i might have to sentence him to the botanic gardens' swan lake if he keeps this up. i'll give him another 6 chances at most to prove himself herbivorous.

2. i discovered a function on my camera phone that i hadn't used before...this effect called "negative".

having snapple at the wheelock coffee bean...

for some strange reason, the ballerina thingy that they placed outside of wheelock place during the christmas period was very popular...

3. on christmas eve, jason, wayne, joseph and i went back to nus to see see look look. this used to be my playground...

i could almost see the outline of my sweat on the ground from 5-10 years ago...those that probably would have been better placed in the library studying...haha.

4. i saw this delorean dmc-12 at my mechanic's shop a few months ago...and if you're wondering why it looks so familiar, that's cuz it's the same car in the movie "back to the future", starring michael j. fox *cringe* as marty mcfly.

don't we all wish we had a time machine at some point in our lives?

anyway, this is a pretty rare car...there're only like 6,500 of them left according to wiki...so, the fact that my mechanic can fix it gives me a feeling that the skymobile is in good hands. haha.

tuesdays with morton's

tuesdays have always been kinda tough and stressful for me.

tuesday is the day after monday, which traditionally is the most favourite day of the week for people like me to take mc...($5 to the first person who correctly guesses the excuse i came up with at the doctor's office yesterday...)

and tuesday has also been labelled as "pms day" in my office...due to the uncanny coincidence of this being the specific day of the week when my boss chooses to unleash her fury on us at our sales meeting.

so, on this first tuesday of the new year...(technically new year's day doesn't count cuz it's a public holiday)...a couple of old raffles hall buddies and i decided to unwind at morton's (oriental hotel) for some happy hour fun. =)

and let me tell you this...an appletini ($10.95++) and a little portion (9 each for me and jason to be exact) of filet mignon steak sandwiches (free of charge!), can ease so much tension...

but then again, at the end of the day, it's always the company that's important...i mean, we could have been in freaking sengkang st. 74 having a cup of bitter gourd juice at the wet market for all we cared...ok, for all i cared at least. haha.

anyway, my point is probably best reflected in this quote from the book "tuesdays with morrie":

"we've had thirty-five years of friendship. you don't need speech or hearing to feel that."

so to nelle, jean, and jason who were at morton's today, and also to all my other great friends out there...i feel you. (aiyah, i know you know what i mean lah. haha.)

new year, first flame

happy new year everyone!

with this in mind, i logged onto facebook and messaged my very first girlfriend on new year's eve to wish her happy birthday. well, actually, in truth, i logged onto facebook on the 2nd of january to wish her a happy belated birthday...

background: my first real girlfriend happened when i was in jc. she was my everything: i skipped school to spend time with her, i took mc from school to be with her, i was basically hooked on this thing called "puppy love".

and to show you how really crazy i was...there was this time when i found an envelope left behind in a cab that i took...inside there was a $1,000 note. this "discovery" to a teenager like me back then, was the equivalent of striking toto...(and no, i didn't tell the cab driver that i found the envelope...are you crazy?)

so what did i do with the money you might ask? i bought two ~~silver~~ platinum rings, each costing $490, and engraved both me and my ex-gf's names on the insides. apparently, this would be a sign of my undying love for her, in my prepubescent mind at least...

and then after that, i think i bought us a nice romantic dinner at macdonald's with the spare change. haha.

there were a lot of memories from that era. mostly too personal to share on this platform, but just know that i was a puppy-lover once. haha.

so anyway, we decided to meet today to catch up...and obviously, we've gone our separate ways for quite some time already...she's gotten married, stayed in hong kong for the past 2.5 years, etc etc...so when she told me that she had a belated birthday / christmas present for me, i was a bit shocked.

but then when i got it, i was completely flabbergasted...

this was the very first medal of any sort that i have ever earned...it was from a 3-on-3 basketball tournament way back in 1996 while i was still in njc.

i had completely forgotten that i gave it to her...

i was just speechless when she handed it back to me...it's been more than a decade...i can't believe that she kept it for so long...

it's one of the best gifts i've received in a long time...and well, quite frankly, it's quite hard to beat lah. haha. but please don't let that stop you from trying hor! haha.

now that we're all in a contemplative mood since the year's drawing to a close yet again, let me share with you a little something that i have "rediscovered"...

when i was in sec 3, the craze in my school was the band called beyond. and being the ultimate "eat potato" kid of the whole school, i obviously didn't understand what the fuss was all about...i was into guns 'n roses, kris kross and other trashy stuff like that.

recently however, i have been listening more to these long lost chinese /cantonese songs...partly cuz i miss those playful years...but mostly though, i must admit, cuz i have a karaoke session with my colleagues coming up, and i'm trying to add to my current repertoire of 3 chinese songs.

so anyway, i was doing a bit of research on beyond...you can find it here (not that it's very much)...but if you wanna know more, you can probably email billy to find out more...he was the resident beyond fanatic in my class...i swear, his hairstyles were modeled after paul wong's. too bad his guitar skills didn't follow suit. haha.

on to the good stuff...this is my (and half a million other people's) favourite song from beyond. it's called "海阔天空" (hai3 kuo4 tian1 kong1)...which means "boundless oceans and vast skies". with a title like that, how can the song be anything but spectacular?

just like how beer has been helping ugly people have sex since 1862 (yes, i'm sure you've seen those t-shirts around), the internet was always going to move in on that front too...cuz after all, we are programmed as such by mother nature...to look for a mate to spend the rest of our lives with. well, most of us at least...

so, as the internet paves the way for the less-physically-pleasing-to-the-eye people (like yours truly) to meet, there has been an endless boom of websites / applications for these despera...i mean...lonely people.

anyway, now that i've gotten past the obligatory introductory paragraphs, AND since i've established the fact that i have absolutely nothing against ugly, fat, and generally uncool people...there are some things that i have to bring up when it comes to online dating / flirting...or more specifically, online flirting in facebook.

now, when you add the application called "are you interested?" or "meet new people", you KNOW what the program is for...to find a suitable mate. (don't give me that "let's be friend's" crap lah...you know, i know and we all know)

so here are some tips for you chics on your profile photos...

1. being photogenic is tough...i know cuz i look like shit in a lot of photos too...but try to be visible at least lah...

(from what i know, using flash doesn't cost anything extra)

2. try to look reasonably friendly...

3. generally speaking, most people want to know what you look like in these kinda progams, so putting up these photos don't really help:

4. make sure you are single to begin with...

i'm not a really big fan of celebrating my own birthdays...i'm sure some of you can relate to that...especially those of you over 25 years of age. yes, you are in the LATE 20's already...

and yesterday, i initiated proceedings on my final year of that era...(private note: oh how i wish they had repeat exams for that module...for those of you who understand what that meant, ha ha.)

anyway, like i said, i'm not one to throw big parties and celebrate yet another year passed in my life...if given a choice, i'd remain 21 always. but...as time would have it, november 19th came...and so i took the day off work.

i actually did some stuff on my own...which i have on video, but that's gonna take some time to organise and put together...so i'll just post some pictures of what i did after those videos...

every year since i was born, i have always had dinner with my parents on my birthday. and this year, as tradition would have it, we ended up at michaelangelo's in holland village...

we've been going to michaelangelo's every year for at least one occasion (birthdays, mother's / father's day, etc)...so since it was the last opportunity this year for us to honour this tradition, i decided that we had to go there for dinner.

remember the qilin (骐麟) pendant i wanted for the skymobile? my mom brought one back from taiwan for my birthday present...i love it! =)))

but i couldn't take a very clear picture of it...even with flash...

so, you'll have to see it in person if you wanna know what it looks like. =)

speaking of presents, i received a call today from bestfrenem...aka owner of the em-mobile, who's the brother of the skymobile...

moby: hello?
em: happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you!
moby: you forgot one word.
em: what's that?
moby: "belated."
em: i'm sorry lah! time flies when you're in my line lah. i meant to call you yesterday, but the next thing i knew, it was the 20th already!

i went to get a haircut today at shunji matsuo @ wisma...but for the first time ever, the shampoo girl didn't massage my head...i think she's a newbie. =( my hairstylist is still good (and cute) though. so guys, look for caely (pronounced "kelly") if you go...just tell her that "jason" recommended you. don't ask, just do. haha.

i called my mom today...she went back to taiwan for a short trip...asked her to help me check out the qi lin pendants there. hehe.

the best song for driving in my mp3 cd now is "blurry" by puddle of mudd. a close second is "let's get rocked" by def leppard. "bullet with butterfly wings" by smashing pumpkins is good too. i can't help but pump it up when i hear these songs. =) (no wonder my fuel consumption has skyrocketed recently)

skymobile - the 麒麟 pendant search

i've been searching for some way to "personalize" the skymobile.

given her recent history, i wanted to get something like a protector-cum-watcher-over pendant of sorts for the skymobile...and i figured that the most personal i could go with this idea was to get a 骐麟 (or 麒麟 - qi2 lin2) pendant for my beloved.

for those of you who are not familiar with the term "qi lin", please refer to this and this.

and for those of you who are not familiar with why this is personal to me, "骐" is the "chi" in my chinese name. (moby sky is just a writer's name for your info...the history of which is somewhere in my archives which i cannot be bothered to link)

so anyway, the qi lin's got a head of a dragon and a body of a lion (in most accounts at least)...and, as you can see below, he's not much of a looker...

but come on, neither am i...so what better fit right?! =)

the thing is...just as mystical as they come, qi lins are almost impossible to find in pendant form!!! the one or two i've seen in feng shui shops are made of jade that's badly carved...much worse than the above-pictures of them...

does anyone know where i can find a nice looking qi lin pendant? please let me know...

skymobile - spa treatment

the skymobile has been undergoing a lot of stress recently...

and you know how girls are when they can't handle the pressure...all grumpy and cranky...with you eventually being burdened with their grief (no lah, i'm not making any references to my boss...none at all...zip...).

so anyway, i decided to indulge the skymobile today with a little spa treatment...

along with a good rubdown...

they even cleaned her rims real nice! well done...

the folks at the shell car wash along ang mo kio avenue 8 really know how to pamper my girl...so much so that i told them to keep the change from the $10 bill...ok lah, not say big $$$ lah...but come on...how many of you actually tip 66.67% of the bill...

the day started innocuously enough...

i was happily on facebook at about midnight, surfing around as usual...when *bam!*, everything shot straight to "error while loading page from...". nevermind. i decided to go to sleep.

i woke up this morning with aches all over my body from yesterday's bruising football game...so i decided to take half day leave to sleep it off. no sooner had i put down the phone to inform my boss, a customer calls...and then another 10 minutes later...and then yet one more phone call 2 hours into my morning slumber. nevermind. i decided to wake up.

after washing up, i excitedly turned on my computer...i had dreamt that gerrard scored one, and mascherano the other in a 2-0 victory for the reds. so i checked livescore.com first...then soccernet.com just to double check...and then liverpoolfc.tv to confirm. i think my neighbours nearly called the police after hearing my scream. nevermind. i decided to get ready for my job interview.

i put on my lucky ck tie, my clinique happy cologne, brought along all the documents requested, and arrived at the venue 15 minutes early...common courtesy. so anyway, i waited...and waited...and waited for 45 long minutes...before the receptionist suddenly remembered that i had to fill in some admin forms. great!

and then, as positive as i was about this interview, you can imagine my ecstasy when the hr girl asked me why i didn't bring my original degree scroll "for confirmation". wow...red tape at the starting line already. i patiently (and politely) answered that i would bring it the next time, if i actually do join.

so...almost 1 hour after the scheduled time, a lady in her early-30's waltzes in, shakes my hand with absolutely no authority, and proceeds to quiz me on how much i know about their company. come on...grow up already. i'm not a fresh grad waiting to grab at any job that feeds the hamsters at home. in my opinion, an interview at my stage should be a sharing of ideas and concepts...about whether i fit the organisation, and whether the organisation fits me.

30 minutes later, i still had no clue what the job scope was for the position that they were interviewing me for. add that together with a bad cup of coffee from their machine, and you have a complete waste of time. not to mention the $4.12 parking fee at their cramped carpark with only one exit and a faulty cashcard reader.

needless to say, i will politely decline a second interview...that is, if they mistakenly perceive that i'm somehow still interested in the job. nevermind. i decided to go back to the office.

"hey! wanna go for a stick?!" asked the irritating 'social-smoker' colleague who never has a stick of his own, and thinks it's ok to sponge off moby thrice a day.
"nah...i'm busy now." says moby.
"oh ok...why? what you doing?" asked the irritant *peeps over moby's shoulder to see the screen*
"work lah." says moby...sounding irritated.
"your numbers how?? can meet target or not? how, how?"
*blank stare back from moby that screamed a million "wtf you want?!"*
"haha...relax lah!" *proceeds to irritatingly massage moby's shoulders with much vigour*
"eh, i need to go to the toilet." *walks off...goes for a smoke outside...alone*

nevermind. i go home.

dinner time. after the long day, i decided to treat myself to a pork rib king rice with egg (排骨王饭加蛋). while waiting for them to prepare the food, i trotted over to the indian stall and bought a bag of papadums for a snack. then before going over to 7-11 just behind the food centre to buy a drink, i decided to leave the chips with the auntie...

"eh auntie ah, i leave this here first hor." *puts bag of papadums on auntie's shelf*
"ok."

*5 minutes later...*

"eh auntie ah, where're the chips ah?"
"huh? they were there what..."

i accepted my fate, slowly walked over to the indian stall, and resignedly asked for another bag of papadums...

nevermind. it's another day tomorrow...

there's this application in facebook called "storyline", which is basically a story continuation thingy...

so anyway, i was invited by this chic to join her story halfway...take a wild guess when my continuation to the story started:

(i'll give you a little hint by colour-coding the different authors)

The strands kept slipping through her fingers as she tried to sweep them. The fuschia elastic band was stretched and poised to make that few quick rounds about her hair but she was not happy with the ponytail. Too many loose strands at the nape of her neck. Her arms ached from being held up for so long while trying to tie the ponytail. She was runnning late and with an impatient wring of the tap, she wet her palms and pat the top of her head. That will do for now.

Out she ran of the apartment into the sticky humidity that was characteristic of the place she called home. As she walked briskly to the bus stop, she could feel beads of sweat starting to form under her chin. "Great," she muttered to herself, "just what I need to match my sloppy hair." Reaching into her bag for a wet wipe, she heard a familiar sound.

"Buuop!" She heard it before she felt it. A small yet substantial amount of gas was released from its unconscious creator. Feeling slightly embarrassed but at the same time strangely satisfied, she did the obligatory visual and olfactory checks with a quick glance and a short sniff. "Good, no smell." she giggled at herself. Reassured of her anonymity, she began to wipe herself dry.

The bustle of the midday traffic was at its peak with cars inching bumper to bumper toward the incomprehesible attraction of the "Sale Worth Waiting For". Impatient and suffocating under the blistering heat at the bus stop, she wondered if her bus, a mere ten metres away would ever manage to crawl miraculous towards her. She stared hard at it, with absolute concentration at the red-bold numerals "65", willing the bus to move. Tt was then that something caught the corner of her eye.

It was shiny; and it sparkled in the heat of the blistering sun. For a moment, she wondered if she was feeling ill and took a moment to recover. It moved closer. She followed the glimmer up a pair of slender, waxed legs that would make any man drool. Perched at the top of an almost perfect body was a face that looked almost incredibly simple. She glanced down at the impossibly gorgeous pedders again. "No way!" she thought.

Perched on top of each shoe was a faux diamante the size of a grape. The shoe itself was purple patent leather rimmed with black lace. Anybody else would have found the pair of heels gawdy and distasteful but it suited Gek Huay's style perfectly. The bus engine coughed out a cloud of exhaust before jerking to a halt in front of the bus stop. Gek Huay could not give up the chance to ask the woman where she had bought the shoe.

"Where did you buy that shoe?! So nice!" the woman exclaimed, causing a confused looking Gek Huay to look up.

"This pair of shoes? I made them myself. You like them?"

"yes..." the woman purred. she reached to feel the exquisite material on the...

"no touching, bitch!" exclaimed gek huay, releasing another string of accoustic percussion from her hindquarters in the process.

flustered by this outburst, the purple shoed lady drew back and shouted, "i titoudao you!"

gek huay was pissed off: "i knew i've seen those legs before!" she cried out and grabbed the woman's hair. as the wig came off, everyone at the busstop stopped and exclaimed in unison:

"CHUA EN LAI?!"

"I am not ! All of you are mistaken!" the purple shoed woman, now man, exclaimed while shielding his face with the handbag that all until now, had been pinned under his arms. Several of the bystanders were now stooping to get a better look at the man's face and Gek Huay almost pitied the man for putting him in such a spot. Just as the man was about to crumble under the curious stares of the crowd, a svelte woman with long tresses pushed through the onlookers and shielded the man with her body.

the crowd exclaimed yet again in one voice:

"PARIS HILTON!?!"
"yeah, that's my name...don't wear it out." *paris puts arm around chua en lai*

the crowd started to whisper amongst themselves...
"wow...she's actually wearing a bra..."
"sheesh, i know that every fashionable woman has to have a gay best friend...but come on...him?!"
"chua en lai is gay?!"
"no shit sherlock."

"come on, let's get outta here" paris said to her accessory...and promptly got onto bus number 65...

and that's it. hmmm...i'm thinking that i either grossed them all out already, or nobody has a sense of humour anymore, cuz there hasn't been a continuation for 2 days already. haha.

i haven't had any ideas of where or how to start my own story as yet...anyone wanna help? =D

i guess when you're the only kid wearing gold jewellry and fashioning real louis vuitton sling bags, you get some status somehow (not unlike the grown-up world that we live in now).

and plus, he was going out with the school's hottest chic, who also happened to be my secondary school crush. nice huh? haha...

anyway, i managed to get into his good books, and we even played on the same basketball team together, winning a 3-on-3 tournament which we happened to have organised, and which we happened to have won...fair and square for that matter...really! no back arm tactics involved at all!

so i guess if you can't beat 'em (literally), might as well join 'em huh? hahaha. (though later, it got a bit awkward explaining why i always had so many "detentions" in school when he asked me to go out and fight in his gang for real...hehe.)

back to the jolly kids...don't drink. or else you might end up with a gang of followers and the hottest chic in school. so yeah, don't drink.

but recently i've been getting a hell of a lot of paper cuts...like once every other day kinda affair. i think i have high tension or something...though i don't know what that has to do with paper cuts...

or maybe that's my body's way of slicing the tension. =|

is it just me or does everyone else also hate the commentators on the guiness 9-ball tour? one word: boring-and-full-of-shit.

commentator 1 (com1): he'll definitely go for the centre right pocket here...
commentator 2 (com2): yeah...that's gotta be the only shot he has...
moby (watching on tv): fuck you lah...confirmed upper right pocket lah. cock...who would go for centre right???

*the player calmly slots the ball straight into the last right pocket*

com1: wow! tremendous shot!
com2: yes! i didn't think it would go through! he had us fooled there didn't he?!

ok...the wording isn't exactly as such, but i think you get the picture...anyway, there were a lot of other instances that i can't be bothered to list down...

but seriously...why get these kind of amateurs (i'm being kind to call them that...) to commentate when there are so many other people out there who are much more qualified? get an ex-professional player lah...or at least someone who has played pool before...

after a while, it was so excrutiatingly detrimental to my ears and mental health to listen to their crap that i just turned the tv to mute.

shortly after that, my pool idol won the competition. =D

i was called up by yet another head-hunting company yesterday...but for once, it wasn't some insurance related position, so i decided to listen.

it was something that involves business development in the middle east. apparently they wanted to interview me for a new position...

anyway, cut to the chase...i was told to fill out an application form, which was all good...until i reached the last part where there were some terms and conditions:

"•There will be no fee charged to applicant for successful permanent placement.

•However, successful applicant must remain in the company for at least three (03) months starting from the commencement date given by employer provided that there is no illegal or unlawful demands made upon the applicant in course of work, failing which he/she must compensate one (01) month of his/her offered basic monthly salary payable to "the headhunting company" within seven (07) working days after official resignation date. Resignation letter can only be submitted after three (03) months from the date of commencement to the client(s) of "the headhunting company"; employer(s) that offered the appointment letter to successful applicant after he/she signing on it. This penalty shall not apply to termination of employment by client(s) of "the headhunting company" for any reasons whatsoever within the said three (03) months’ period."

this recruitment company probably just wanted to make sure that they get their commission one way or another...but still...their job is to find the right company for the right people, and vice versa...and if the person quits within 3 months, then obviously the recruiting company didn't do their job right!

speaking of "illegal and unlawful demands", can they even do that??? i bet it's not even enforceable. but anyway, i lost interest in that interview already. knn, sekali i kena posted to iraq or some war zone within 3 months of joining...then how? quit still must pay the recruiters ah? wah lau eh...damn cock.

eye problems

i went to get my eyes checked today by my favourite optometrist (i almost typed "optician" before i realised the vast difference) cuz i had some problems with my contact lens the other day...

anyway, here's an exert of a short conversation we had over lunch:

moby: so i heard w and p are attached already! so exciting!
my ex (mex): yup yup...well, they're quite attached.
moby: cool.
mex: yeah...then how about you? what's your progress like?
moby: err...nobody wants me lah...i'm way too screwed up.

fly past

i was at the esplanade yesterday...waiting for my family to come and meet up for dinner...it's the first time in more than 5 years that all 6 of us (including my grandma) are in singapore together. 真得很难得...

anyway, i managed to get some shots of the fly past of the flag helicopter and the fighter jets...

i've always thought that flying a fighter jet was the coolest thing in the world. it sent a slight tingle right through my toes and brought a little tear in my eye as those guys flew past.

ok...first things first...

i finally managed to clean my fish tank and fix the "faulty" water filter...(knn, i never knew my fish could shit so much that they'd actually clog it up).

i guess this clears up the stupid urban myth that sucker fish (aka pleco) eat fish crap.

and i finaly managed get my hair cut...gone with the afro, and back to the spikes.

next up: clearing and fixing up the other shit in my life.
